The Super Featherweight Division, also known as Junior Lightweight Division, makes its initial appearance in boxing, with the defined weight range being between 126-130 pounds.

The super featherweight division was established by the New York Walker Law in 1920, although first founded  ten years earlier by the New York State Athletic Commission (NYSAC) in 1930.

The first English champion was "Battling Kid" Nelson in 1914, who lost his title to Benny Berger in 1915. Artie O’Leary also won the Super Featherweight title in 1917.

Better known as the National Boxing Association up until 1962, the first World Boxing Association

champion was Johnny Dundee in 1922. The first World Boxing Council champion was Gabriel Elorde in 1963, and the International Boxing Federation joined the divisional rank by crowning Hwan-Kil Yuh in 1984. Finally in 1989, the World Boxing Association declared its first champion John John Molina.

This weight class appeared in two distinct historical periods, from 1921 to 1933 and from 1960 to the present. The "break" between 1933 and 1960 cost the Super Featherweights (or Junior Lightweight division some major participants in professional boxing. That said the Super Featherweights has had no shortage of name fighters, including:
